Biography
Jim Williams, Trial Counsel at Shifrin Law Group, has been a litigator since 2001. Jim spent more than half of his career defending large corporations and insurance companies before making the change to represent people who have been injured or killed by the negligence of companies and other individuals. This gives Jim substantial insight into how corporations and insurance companies approach these cases and the tactics they use. Representing real people who have been hurt and may be unable to work aligns with Jim’s upbringing, where he watched his father and many other family members work in trades as electricians, pipe fitters, and truck drivers.
Jim has represented plaintiffs and/or defendants in cases involving trucking collisions, automobile collisions, work place injuries caused by other companies, FELA (railroad) injuries, premises liability, slips and falls, asbestos exposure leading to lung cancer/mesothelioma, and negligent security.
Jim is licensed to practice in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri, as well as most of the Federal Courts in these states. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from St. Joseph’s College (1998), a Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law (2001), and a Master of Laws from the John Marshall Law School, now known as the University of Illinois School of Law (2005). Jim has also available for mediations in Illinois and Indiana.
Outside of work, Jim spends time with his wife and two sons, and can often be found on the sidelines of a basketball court, soccer field, wrestling mat, or cross country course. After coaching his sons for many years, he now has the pleasure of watching them compete for their schools and in a competitive setting. He also enjoys travel, hiking, and anything that gets him outdoors.
